Perhaps I Lost The Poems Long Ago

PERHAPS I LOST THE POEMS LONG AGO

Perhaps I lost the true poems long ago
Lost them when I lost my Silence
And with my endless flow of words
Drowned that intimate voice of hidden meanings
The voice of feelings beyond simple names-

Perhaps I lost the true poems long ago
And will never have them again-

Perhaps I never had them
And Silence should have been mine in a more elemental way
As proper modesty
Of one who simply could not
Write well enough.
