Perhaps This Time, Love Will Stay Poem by G.B. Smith

Perhaps This Time, Love Will Stay

Our tears are like the
leaves of autumn
they lie on the ground unnoticed
as everyone passes by

They are just a reminder
of the love that we once knew
life is like autumn
it can pass us by if we let it

Like a whisper in the night
it lingers on
our time to sing love's song
and dance loves ballet
has come to an end too, bad

Our music is still playing
tears fall and no one notices
We cry out and no one hears

Wet is the pillow of the
lovers of lost dreams
they fear to make a stand
and make it work

Do you hear my cries for help
is it too late for you to rescue me
will you allow love back
into your heart or has the silence
of the tears fallen on deaf ears

Who sees the sadness
in your sweet passionate eyes
who hears the beating of your heart
like when you held me
to your naked breast

Will the autumn leaves
hold our tears forever
or can lovers overcome pride
and try one last time
perhaps this time, love will stay

sigh...
