Peru Missions Trip Poem by JOHNNY COBB

Peru Missions Trip

Planning a vacation destination...
I've always wanted to go to Peru.
Check another line off my bucket list
My first trip to South America too!
A Go International missions team
the thirteen of us bonded like brothers.
Eighteen muddy miles hiking through jungle
with one simple mission: to help others.
Six miles in, I slipped and snapped my hamstring
Seven hours of night hiking with 3 flashlights.
A tarantula motivated us
"Not going to sleep in the jungle tonight! "
I'm the only pharmacist on this trip
plus, I'll be a physician assistant.
Five hundred villagers in Olivos...
home is four thousand miles in the distance.
We treated the sick and all the school kids
plus a young boy who had the spider bite.
A 50 mile walk to the next clinic
No doubt we saved his hand and life that night.
Two worship services at dirt floored church
where fifty people found Jesus those nights..
Hugging those school kids down by the altar
made this such an unforgettable sight!
