POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When a veterinarian refuses
to release an animal til his
operation is paid for, it is
kidnapping.
Many veterinarians research
on animals on the side or
send stray animals brought
to them by trusting people
to research hospitals.
Many are meat inspectors.
Dogs don't like cages, unless, as Yevtushenko wrote about captive animals 'If you're used to a cage you will weep for a cage.'
