Ph: Life: Minimizing Pain Poem by Brian Johnston

Ph: Life: Minimizing Pain

Make me sad I won't care just as long as you're there
And I know that I'm loved; it's a pleasure to share!
But some pain's more a private affair of the heart,
And continuous sharing is torture, not art!

We all grok what we feel, but some thoughts are less real:
Things we fear are the worst! If I could, I'd repeal
All the fears that you hide, but I don't get to vote!
Can't escape skin of birth! Give a leopard new coat?

There's NO love I'll divest! Must get off of my chest:
Should I kill love to keep your Love? At whose behest?
It's the truth! I love Love more than you or myself
And Love's never a gift that goes stale on a shelf.

Although death might end Pain, death does rub on life's grain,
For not many who die live to taste earth again
Or to say what they learned there! Please don't lose your nerve:
'Touch' enjoyable 'pain? ' Might 'life' be Love's 'hors d'oeuvre? '
