Ph: Life: What Brings Joy Poem by Brian Johnston

Ph: Life: What Brings Joy

When love flows back with more than I have paid,
When lying in lush grass of summer’s lawn,
When on a scorching day I find some shade,
When morning breaks, but nothing stops the dawn,
It’s world I can’t control that brings me joy!

When melodies conspire to give me chills,
When random acts of kindness shed their light,
When hike reveals a field of daffodils,
When Science speaks of shadowed moon at night,
It’s world of Nature’s gifts that brings me joy!

When blessed with sleep I trust that I will wake,
When dear friends check to see what’s going on,
When heaven's tasks I seek to undertake,
When ugly duckling turns into a swan,
It’s Easter Egg’s surprise that brings me joy!

When muse picks me to give its poem birth,
When one who hated, turns, and sues for peace,
When sadness that’s addressed gives rise to mirth,
When all that binds begins to find release,
It’s unexpected Grace that brings me joy!
