Phantom Pain Poem by Timothy hopkins

Phantom Pain

Around, all around, the dark memories gather.
My dread grows as the stroke of death falls against my heart.
It slays me, and darkly my
life's blood drips
to the dead grass.
In pain I fall limply
while death hovers close.
Now alone, my soul falls upon uncaring eyes.

This is death
