Phenomenal Mother Poem by Francis Julian Zewu

Phenomenal Mother

Phenomenal mother,
Phenomenal mom,
Wonderful gift ever to be given
Beautiful jewel never to be discovered
Promises of honor and happiness
I beseech her only
Only till time indefinite.

Claps and cheers of noises I dream
Recalling nights she’d gather us
At the expense of full moon
Telling us stories of our very own.
Without much education
Managed to intoxicate us
Thoughts of the continents culture
Teachings of the lands traditions.

Phenomenal mom,
Sometimes strange
Thinking she’d change
Sometimes imagined her working
Sometimes remember She toiled
Tied me at her back
Day and night
Just to feed and clothe us,
Silence out of love for our father
Suffers to endure forever.

When mouth wide opened
Tongue and teeth crying
Breast of milk she fed me with
Whispers of fragile words
Delicate and so sweet of
I Love You!
She said to me.
And gift of pure true love she gave me
Not letting the understanding and chance
Pass us by without cherishing me for a moment.

Phenomenal mother,
Through love inner eyes and ears
True prophesies She confesses
Greatness and mightiness to me among peers.
At the time of formation in the womb,
She was there long before conceiving me
Scared yet cared!
Calmness, held me tight to feel her heart beat.
Never denied me the love and warmth at birth
When life so cruel feeling fool
Refused to let me go
Without giving me life
Believing it might be her greatest biggest regrets.

She held me I hold her
She loved me I love her
She kissed me I cherish her.
Stretch to reach during time of fall.
Panicked thinking I might hurt.

Oh what a wonder!
Oh what a mother!
Phenomenal mother,
Phenomenal mom you are indeed.
