Physicality Poem by Shirow Walker

Physicality

It matters not
Whether your beautiful
You are
It is your essence that I desire
Far beyond such physicality

Suppose you could not touch me
Nor see me, or even hear my voice
But you knew of me
If I loved you before all these
What would that be?

Could you blindly comprehend
My inner most being
Stripped of light
Of mass and weight
Those composed of elemental things

Would it be easier to love
That which did not exist
Though you knew intimately
Than to love someone
Unsightly, ashamed to be seen

If to hope is folly
And to believe is naïve
Then whisper when no one is listening
See what others can not see
Dream that we can love
In love, beyond our bodies
Removed from such physicality
