Pirouetting. Poem by Angeliki Largatzis

Pirouetting.

Dainty feet glide
pirouetting
teasing
beneath the shadows
of the tall, old olive tree -
the secrets of the ancient
the stumbles of the young
all who have shared tales
beneath the caged sky
lamenting
bellowing
and it will strike
the heedless soul -
nimble fingers brush
grasping
pattering
the flower wreaths doused
and miasmic mildew adheres -
amidst the hush of the world
as it sleeps,
mumbling its contentment..
its unawares
of a merry child
pirouetting
teasing
the old, barren burial grounds.

Pirouetting.
