Planting Time Poem by Marilyn Lott

Planting Time

I enjoy so much the fields of crops
As I travel across the land and find
Huge and modern machinery
Ah yes, it’s planting time

Most of us plant in the spring
Or summer may be the urgent call
But sometimes the time to plant
Is actually some time in the fall

And I just love to dropp a seed
Into the wonderful fertile soil
And after a few days waiting
A tiny plant begins to uncoil

Delicate little crops are great
Or large crops with a product to sell
The fresh smell that wafts in the air
Of golden harvest after it fell

The perfect rows in deep black dirt
Are planted and watered and such
So much time and effort giving
The land that perfect touch

Yes, it’s a wonderful thing to watch
And I think that you will find
There is nothing quite as fascinating
As it is during planting time!
