Playing Hop Scotch - Poem by Heather Burns

Dear friend
yesterday
two small girls
laughed, talked,
shared their secrets
played hop scotch on
the sidewalk
outside my window.

Today
one girl remains
all is silent
not a sound is heard
except the footsteps
on the sidewalk of
my heart.
