Please don't hate me
for the times I made you feel alone,
for answering you with silence
when you only wanted to be heard.
I'm sorry for the words I said
when I was angry and afraid,
for making you question your worth
when you deserved reassurance instead.
I'm sorry I didn't listen
when you were trying to explain,
for turning little disagreements
into reasons for more pain.
I'm sorry for the promises
I made and didn't always keep,
for the trust I damaged
and the nights I left you wondering
if I even cared.
You didn't deserve that.
You deserved patience, honesty,
and someone who would stay
when things became difficult.
I can't undo what I did,
and I won't pretend an apology
can magically make it disappear.
I just want you to know
that I see my mistakes now.
I know where I hurt you,
and I wish I had understood sooner.
So please don't hate me.
You don't have to forgive me yet.
Just know that I'm truly sorry
for hurting someone
I never wanted to lose.
