Please Take Me Into Your Wounds Poem by Don Nguyen

Please Take Me Into Your Wounds

Take me into your home, my Love
Take me where my soul will wander,
then become lost into the wondrous world
Where only love and grace and all sweetness reside
Where all the sinful sorrowful world which I simply have no need,
All to be left behind
Take me into your sacred wounds, my Lord
Opened, pierced, bleeded professedly to show me
How much my love and my life means to you
Now you and ‘me’ are bonded forever
As we share a common flesh and blood
For yours have mingled with mine, sinful and unworthy
Oftentimes I wonder why you have sacrificed?
Why you want to exchange my unworthiness
for your immense most blessed beauty?
What is there in a man that you care to the point of death
Why did you let us to torture,
to inflict wounds upon the bodily Divine Word?
Now with sinful humbleness,
allow us to witness what our barbaric hands have done
To the most adorable most glorious Love the world has ever known.
Lord, intensify the full array of my human sentiments
From the very depth of my spirit
Before taking me there, the hidden sacred place,
the altar of Divine Sacrifice
But first purify me, my Love,
with extreme unction of sweetest bitterness
Like glowing burning coal
to purge away all my residual carnal desires and filthy ugliness
To be led like the most beatified spouse into the bridal chamber
The Highest Heaven of Christ’s most sacred Wounds
Where my soul shall immerse in speechless ecstasy
For the Lord has showered all His benevolent sweetness upon me.
