Poem Of Age Poem by Rauli Leppanen

Poem Of Age

I saw a man today,
not knowing what to do.
Wondering what he'd say,
too distracted to tie his shoe.

I saw a woman today,
knowing exactly what to do.
She was happy of something new.
I saw her leave,
as if she flew.

I smiled.
I used to be like that.
Exited.
Afraid.
Uncertain of what I had.

As I walked,
I remembered What it was like.
The memories so rarely talked,
in the end,
were my greatest light.

The people I have loved,
the people I have seen go.
The times and friends,
I sometimes used to know.

I opened the door of my car,
and heard a voice ask from afar:
'Why was it so? '
'How were those your heels? '
I don't know..
Why do things happen
as they do in dreams?

And as I drove away,
I had this pun:
I have found serenity.
From what I've seen,
From the things I have even shun.
From these things,
that I have done.
