Poems And Sonnets Of The Night Poem by Justin Gildow

Poems And Sonnets Of The Night

Rating: 4.5

I woke up in the middle of the night
And I dreamt it was 1994 all over again
I see on my desk all the poems and sonnets
All of them for you
All of them of which I'll never forget
All of them which were written by me
All of which were written and designed to strike true

I'm thinking of you tonight
From outside my window the field mice run from one end to the other
On my wall beside my ragged glory
There's a crown made especially for you

Pink winged and blue butterflies
How they flutter near the ground
Quietly without a sound
Then they ascend to the night sky

As I fall back to sleep
I'll hold in your memory and breathe you in and out tonight as I sleep
