Poet - Poem by Nelly Linares

If you want to call me a poet,
do it, but do it because of the many days I spend
gazing at the immensity of the sky,
and deciphering the shapes, the colors,
and the messages that angels,
disguised as majestic clouds,
disperse in the Universe.

If you want to call me a poet,
do it, but do it because of the many nights I spend
listening to the amorous tales
of the luminous and enthralling stars.

If you want to call me a poet,
do it, but do it because of the many hours I spend
rejoicing over the beauty of nature
and the astonishing shapes of the trees, the leaves,
and the flowers, in their fascinating gamut of colors,
that make my soul scintillate with purity.

If you want to call me a poet,
do it, but do it please,
for my endless love for God and poetry.
