Poetry As A Confessional Box.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Poetry As A Confessional Box....

the catholic is here
christian like you bringing
with him his burdens

inside the confessional box
the catholic begins his
litany of sins

i did this and i did that
i am sorry for that
i am sorry for this

the shadow of the priest
is inside it
and it is listening

your sins are filtered by
the window of symmetry

and the shadow listens
and listens and listens

until you are done and
you ask for your penance

and the shadow talks
my son, they are not sins

you ask for forgiveness
and the priest says: there is

nothing to forgive, go and
live your life, love it, and

let it love love, let it burst
into the grace of God.
