Poetry May Be Play



Poetry may be Play-
Play of words,
Play of feelings,
Play of thoughts
But the deepest poetry
Is not play.

Play is not the thing
When it comes to the deepest things-
They are beyond play
And perhaps even beyond Laughter-

Play is O.K.
But Poetry in its most holy and painful ways
Is beyond Play.
