Poetry Was Once For The Young Poem by Shalom Freedman

Poetry Was Once For The Young

Poetry was once for the young
A lyric of love
But I am old now
And my confession of truest feelings
Is in a less hopeful time-

And yet there is still
Some happiness and surprise

I tell my little story
And in the telling
I am still live
Older slower
But still trying to write poetry
Somehow.
