Ponder Poem by Randall Vanlandingham

Ponder

Ponder the imponderable, impenetrable forests,
Ancient, these bastions of needle and cone,
Hardwoods sail deeper through channels of maples,
Creatures peer swiftly ‘round branches and stone.
Evergreens piercing horizons of birch-bark,
Boldly bounce sunbeams, though never alone.

'Never alone, ' whispers wind to its partners,
Sharing the paths rarely ventured upon.

Ponder these ponderables, fathomless wonders;
Wonder that pinions survive flaming drones,
Keeping the framework of forests, primeval,
Building fresh shelters, green-covered wood-bones.
Full from endurance, this lasting terrarium
Bottles life's dew-drops, though never alone.

'Never alone, ' whispers wind to its partners,
Sharing the paths rarely ventured upon.

Ponder the inexorable, honorable bindings,
Hearts of brave royals who dare find their throne
Within these castles of nature's raw treasures,
Kingdoms of deepness, ancestry now gone,
Heraldry taken from former land-legends,
Minders, in thatch-huts, though never alone.

'Never alone, ' whispers wind to its partners,
Sharing the paths rarely ventured upon.

Ponder this paradise, these paradigms of pleasure,
Laid broad before you, in temperate zones;
Temporal, this tenure, your tenancy yearning,
Wanting for woodlands'immortalized tones,
Pausing, reflecting, accepting the nectar,
Solitude's sonata, though never alone.

'Never alone, ' whispers wind to its partners,
Sharing the paths rarely ventured upon.
