Pongal is here
thy not fear
for it’s a new year
which will be without a tear.

Pongal is full of thrills
for all the girls
It is full of joy
to each and every boy.

We boil the rice
at what a price?
We harvest our yield
where is the field? ? ?

We share our gains
what about our pains
we ask for the best
Oh! What a test.

Children have the quest
to taste the best
sweetened, dressed sugarcane
after the tall teacher’s cane
