Portrait Of A Grieving Man Poem by El Ot

Portrait Of A Grieving Man

He's too scared and too scary for visitors these days
Like ants avoid deceased kin
The death of his ensures others are repelled
That particular look in his eye - it is too untouchable
it parts the sea of onlookers like oil
But it's no matter - he doesn't wish to speak.
(He would rather scream.)
So he does nothing at all
There's as much distance between the dead and the living
as the living and the surviving.
And the chasm within and without this man seems wide indeed.
Besides, he's too tired to go a-walking
