Pour my Ashes into the River
only that will quench this thirst
and don't grieve this passing
We always knew that I'd go first
Many miles before the ocean
flowing down through mirrored pools
settling under ancient rocks
and racing with the schools
A line of painted dabbling ducks
gracefully paddle by
As wildlife come to quench their thirst
and bring me up inside
Nighttime in the city
I'll linger by the docks
empty bottles, lonely gulls
Who're too cool for their flocks
All the living people
rushing thru their night
chewing tender steak
sipping costly flights
And on the sandy beaches
I'll kiss the summer sand
as children sculpt and mold me
with their little hands
when finally I'm diluted
forever floating free
everywhere and nowhere
from sea to shining sea
