Pray For The Beasts Poem by Robert Eckstein

Pray For The Beasts

Pray for the beasts
That gave their lives for you;
Stunned, bled, and flayed
To show up on your friendly grocer's shelf.

Pray for the beasts
That though their suffering was sharp
It did not last too long

Pray that in the World To Come
They have green pastures,
Cool water,
Sweet corn and fragrant hay,
And a safe, warm barn
If ever the weather should be bad.
