Prayer To Goddess Saraswati Poem by Upendra Majhi

Prayer To Goddess Saraswati

I remember, I was 12 years age,
I recite prayer in the evening,
Mosquitoes, many of them sit on me and bite,
I drive them away stopping recitation,
driving them silently or
if angry with louder recitation,
voice raising the moment you slap on the body
May be originally prayer was being recited like that.
intermittently elongating the syllables.
one day I thought it is an offence to Goddess,
So I stopped driving them while praying,
For ten long minutes they bite and bite,
suck and suck blood as I sit still and pray.
