Precipitation Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Precipitation

Precipitation
I am a raindrop, one of the liquid breed
The cloud above the firmament's my mother:
Until my birthing time, she kept me hid

Like a Nazi stormtrooper I pelt through the air
An unleashed arrow—passing public stare,
My prize-winning debut. Nada holds no fear

Like quicksilver, hills and glens flash by
The sky is weeping, fields are lightening-lit
On I plummet, a kamikaze diver

I am a raindrop
I drop like a coin in a slot

I fly like a falcon falling
Electricity round me crackling

Out of my element of sky
My moment will pass like a dream

Precipitation. There is no going back
I exult with no constraints

I hasten towards oblivion
Down down down down
Down to the earth's re-entry
