Prison Of My Mind Poem by Ryan Lee Morris

Prison Of My Mind

I am a seeker,
A seeker of truth.
Although I did not know this, until the day.
The day of my fall.
A life of living on the edge.
Every lie I bought,
Selling a little piece of my soul.
Each lie pushing me one step closer,
Until the balance was broken.
Over the edge I fell.
The fall was a rush.
An exhilarating free fall.
Plummeting so fast,
I could not see the destruction left in my wake.
Blinded by bad judgement.
My conscience.
Until I hit the bottom.
The sudden stop from the fall.
Leaving me shattered and broken.
A fragile piece of glass.
Crawling on my belly like a snake.
I go to my knees.
The truth reveals itself,
Putting together the pieces one by one.
Revealing each lie I had bought.
Until I was whole again.
Until I was new.
Now that I know the truth,
Everything else is a lie.
The lies pushed me off.
The truth lifted me up,
And pulled me to safety.
I was blinded by lies.
Truth cleared my vision.
It cleared my conscience,
And released me from the chains,
From the prison of my mind.
