Promise Me Poem by Bernard Jess Sagpang

Promise Me

Promise me you’ll never give in

Even for the last drop

You teared in pain

The skies may seem

A leaning tower

Not warning its demolition

A sure desolation

Of hopes and dreams

Promise me the courage I once saw

Even for the last breath

Would fight its cause

The grounds may seem

A barren’s prison

Unwanted and dispensable

A poor old man’s table

Of hopes deferred

I see hope in your defeat

I see victory in your surrender

I see life in your death

Promise me you’ll breathe again

You’ll breathe again!

Hope until the end comes!
