Psalm 69 Poem by Frank McEleny

Psalm 69

My heart is troubled beyond compare
I wander lost in deep despair
For the things of life I barely care
And I cry out to you

I stumble on, to where not knowing
The pain and fear and dread still growing
The dark waters all around me flowing
And I cry out to you

And now I cannot see ahead
I drown in tears upon my bed
To you my thoughts are ever led
And I cry out to you

They hate me, all, without a cause
O God you know my sins and flaws
And when I fall they give applause
And I cry out to you

My love for you it has no end
Because of this I have no friend
Yet on this point I shall not bend
And I cry out to you

I've put on sackcloth and ashes
And all my dreams this life it dashes
My every word forever clashes
And I cry out to you

Deliver me from out the mire
Pull me up a little higher
Deliver me through flood and fire
And I cry out to you

I will praise you with a song
And join in with the heavenly throng
To you alone I do belong
I lift my voice in praise

This humble heart is very glad
Despair is gone, no longer sad
My mind restored for it was mad
I lift my voice in praise
