Psalm 81 Poem by Frank McEleny

Psalm 81

In the midst of the noise I speak to you
Open your ears and hear my voice
I removed your shoulder from the burden
And yet I do not hear my children rejoice

I hear them complain and grumble aloud
They are blinded by their own desire
Their mouths confess but their hearts deny
Yet still by night they follow the fire

My heart was to give you milk and honey
And to give you the finest wheat
You could have stood and saw the power of God
And watch your enemies fall to defeat

Yet even now I speak to you
I would fill you with passion and desire
Humble yourself before the Lord
And I will fill you with a fire
