Pumpkins Vs Squirrel Poem by John Myshkoff

Pumpkins Vs Squirrel

Sneaky squirrel
Brazenly eyeing my porch pumpkin,
That innocent gourd
Sadly torn apart
During a lull in my vigilance.
Thoughts of choosing
That glorious orb,
It's place of honor
On the top step,
Now just a fond memory.
Then as winter morphs to spring
Vines poke through
Newly thawing earth,
An overlooked seed guarantees,
Pumpkin progeny will take their places,
Forming ranks,
And reek vengeance
On that pesky squirrel
