Purple Grass Poem by Amy Edward

Purple Grass

You'll laugh but I left and
forgot how your face looked
I find you in parts
eyes in two teardrops,

laugh that can swing
a vane in the wreck;
all the words you said
brand through me again

Dont look back, I take
all the air I can get
Dont look 'cause I feel
black roots up my leg

and wonder who they'll
look for now I'm lost
inside purple grass
and upper-belly roads

But won't hear more words
from the folks that could
look in my eyes and
not see if I'm gone

There's snails on the wall
Two palms, cold floor
in the naked morning
I'll hold on my coat

Don't need your face to
feel you in my bones
crying birds behind me
I hold on your coat
