Purpose - Poem by Tanist Denise Bolden

Sometimes I think it is defeat
The status quo maintained
I look again
The untied lace
I step back to try again
An alteration here
Motivated by determination there
Formulated and bordered by faith
The promise
Your promise
I too have promises to keep
Therefore poetry to write
I see the roses now
Black tie
Yes, it is the victory song!
