By Mohammad A Yousef
In the dim-lit sanctuary of Delphi,
where whispers of the ancients dance,
Pythia rises, draped in the mists of time,
her breath a soft incantation,
a bridge between the mortal and the divine.
Smoke curls from the sacred laurel,
as she sits upon her throne of stone,
the air thick with the scent of secrets,
the echoes of a thousand questions,
a tapestry woven with threads of hope and despair.
Her mind, a labyrinth of visions,
each flicker a glimpse into the soul of the world,
the future unfurling like a scroll,
inked in the language of the gods,
each word a prophecy, a riddle, a curse.
What do they seek, those who approach?
A glimpse of fate, a map through the shadows,
heroes and kings, their crowns heavy with doubt,
they lay their burdens at her feet,
and in return, she offers the weight of truth.
A tremor, a shudder, the earth beneath shifts,
her voice emerges, raw and primal,
words spilling forth like molten lava,
'Know thyself, ' she breathes,
echoing through the ages, piercing the veil of ignorance.
Time bends in her presence,
moments stretch and contract,
the past and future entwined,
like the serpents that adorn her temple,
sacred, twisted, eternal.
Her eyes, pools of ancient wisdom,
gaze beyond the veil of the mundane,
into the heart of destiny,
as she speaks of wars unbidden,
of love that conquers, of lives intertwined.
Yet, is she a vessel or a muse?
A puppet pulled by unseen strings,
or a fierce oracle, wielding her gift,
an agent of chaos wrapped in divine silk,
the keeper of secrets, the weaver of fate.
In her silence, a world breathes,
in her madness, clarity blooms,
for every word she utters is a spark,
igniting the minds of those who listen,
challenging them to dance with uncertainty.
Pythia, the voice of the forgotten,
the heart of the temple,
the spirit of the earth,
reminds us, in this fleeting existence,
that the journey is the question, the answer, the flame.
As she fades into the mist,
leaving only echoes behind,
we carry her whispers within,
the eternal quest for understanding,
the search for meaning amidst the chaos.
So let us walk in her footsteps,
through the fog of our own desires,
empowered by the knowledge that we seek,
and, like Pythia, let us embrace
the beautiful uncertainty of our souls.
