Q.E.D. Poem by Mary Champion

Q.E.D.

This talk of ‘after-life' ignores one fact -
that it is an impossibility.
An after-life requires death's final act,
but surely, life's a form of energy -
so cannot be created or destroyed -
only converted to another state.
So, whether it's endured or enjoyed,
it hangs around beyond its sell by date.
If life lives on, how can there be a death?
Nothing's after life if life's eternal,
so even if we cease to draw a breath,
go to Paradise or Fires Infernal,
an after-life will never be our fate
however altered be our final state.
