what do you call an understanding of sorts?
where you know what you do and with who?
when you know its too soon but now you have it?
when you try not to feel yet still do?

when is it enough and be satisfied?
for how long should you go on and pretend?
is ceasation a road too far for love?
do we brave it or just watch it all end?

is it bad that we deny?
or wouldn't it be wonderful if we're free?
is a hug not good enough?
or would a giggle, a smile give us away?

do you love the thrill?
of hugs in the dark?
or a look that gives so little, yet it sees not as much
or to have a moment to long for that feathery touch?

should we cross the bridge now?
or watch the water flow a while?
should we hold hands held tight?
or steal it for another time?

should we watch for the aches soon to come?
or both give comfort of what may be?
should we turn away, feel the other?
or stand by the river and be free?

should we be afraid of the bridge?
or are we afraid of the current?
or the simplicities of our nature?
or of what lies on the other bend?
