Rain Poem by Alice Lion

can you feel the drops?
the soft wet drops?
look there's more!
and more!

now it is raning
such a peacful rain
warmly running down my face

now the sky is dark!
how silently it crept into the sky
scaring away the fluffy white clouds that were once there

there's the flash the bright quick flash
now the boom so loud
more and more flashes in the sky
more and more rain
'till i can see no more!

one more bright flash hits a tree
up in flames it goes
oh no!
it falls on the house with all the children
up in flames that to goes

you would never think rain would bring such horror
here are the sirens louder and louder
there are the trucks
out goes the fire

now the rain lightens, i can see once again
i don't want to see but i have to
here comes their mother with but one child
where are the rest?

later that night i find out
she all but two to the fire
the other one will be hospitalized
who knew the rain would bring such harm?

no more rain for weeks and weeks
then once more comes the rain
silent and short
a little drizzle for the plants
