Rain Poem by Ashley Gerard

Rain

The sky darkens into shades of gray and black.
Clouds of natural colors cluster together.
A flash of lightning, followed by the sound of thunder.
It shook the ground but it didn’t make me flinch.
Looking into the sky from my class,
hoping for the water droplets to fall to the ground.
The distant gray clouds reflected my emotions,
Sorrow, loneliness and regret.
Clouded my heart into a tangled mess of emotions.
Dazed in my thoughts,
Drops of water pelted onto the window.
Without realizing, I was on the field.
I was standing, letting myself soaked wet.
I was extending my arms as if it were wings
Letting myself dissolve into the droplets of water falling from the sky
I was smiling. I am smiling.
I was laughing and content.
The rain made me smile again.
I was running and laying on the ground.
The sound of thunder is the music,
and the flash of lightning was the light.
People think I am crazy, but I’m not.
As the rain stopped, I was looking into the bright, clear sky.
I am soaked wet, yet I am still smiling.
A rainbow of hope, desire and happiness painted the sky.
I wish my future is as colorful as the rainbow painting the sky.
