It rained today.
Big warm drops the size of tears plopped against the cobbles in the yard.
Across the way Mrs McGreavy raced out on a linen based rescue.
Unpegging sheets and flinging them heroically over her shoulders.
And dashed back inside.
From my parlour I watched the people and the umbrellas.
The cat trotted over and jumped up on the press next to me.
I stroked her midnight blue fur as she gazed out.
"Well i'm not going out in that."she purred.
I nodded in agreement.
On the wall the clock tocked contently.
And Tullulah and I waited.
