A long time ago back in the day
Rain used to be welcomed and praised.
Rejoiced when the gods were in charge.
Rain reigned!
Rain controlled the people.
It made them act crazy,
And they would do all kinds of weird and bad things
To get it to come to help them survive.
Dance in magical circles and sing,
Sometimes even slaughtering things.
Today the rain has a bad reputation.
When it rains today people get depression.
We have enough water now at least in some places
The rich people totally embrace this.
And, we understand
We have science to guide us.
Or at least we hope, we don't have to dance.
Or murder or hurt just happenstance.
Today we see rain as just another irritating thing,
That gets in the way, at least for a bunch of oblivious people
An excuse to complain, and miss the main point.
That rain may be annoying.
But back in the day rain made us feel soothed, happy and fruitful, and mattered so much to our survival.
