Rain, Rain, Go Away. Poem by Marcy Saylor

Rain, Rain, Go Away.

You see me, when you don't want to.
You hear me, when you want quiet.
You feel me, when you want to be dry.
I cause the earth to swell, when you want it to be solid.
I change your plans, when you like the way that they are.
I like getting in your way, I irritate you.
But there is something that you don't realize.
I keep you alive.
Without me the resevors would be empty.
The lakes, rivers, and oceans would all be dry.
All the crops you rely on, would be gone.
You would have no food.
Without me you would be non-exsistent.
Remember this the next time you look out the window.
Disappointment spreading over your face.
Maybe then a smile will pull at the edges of your mouth.
You thank me.
I, as Rain, will never stop helping.
