Rainy Afternoon Poem by Natasa To

Rainy Afternoon

The afternoon weeps in silver rain,
Each falling drop whispers your name.
The sky grows dim, the streets turn gray,
And my heart drifts to yesterday.

The wind still sings the songs we knew,
Of stolen glances, skies of blue.
Your gentle smile, your hand in mine,
Now live in dreams I can't confine.

The raindrops fall on empty streets,
Where once our wandering footsteps meet.
I search for you in every breeze,
Among the sighing, lonely trees.

Oh, rainy dusk, please tell me why,
Love blooms like stars, then says goodbye.
Why do the sweetest memories stay,
When those we love have slipped away?

And as the evening shadows grow,
The rain keeps falling, soft and slow.
Though time may wash our tears from view,
My heart still waits beneath the rain for you.
