Random - Poem by Ruth Mary Carey

thoughts come crashing in like the waves
sometimes they lap at your consciousness
teasing you
with a soft quiet whisper
whose thinking
is that me i hear
or a collective memory
still carried by the wind
landing wherever it does
and alighting in my brain
random thoughts
where do they come from
where do they go
quiet whispers
that flit on through
flitting like a butterfly
am I my thoughts
or are my thoughts me
