Rant And Rave Poem by The Poet Darkling

Rant And Rave

You rant and rave, rock and roll,
You'd sell your soul for the price of a kiss.
Picked up the pipe, put it down,
Would shoot yourself but you're afraid you'd miss.

It's not fair; you brought me there,
Still yet you begrudged me a chance to play.
You place the blame, cheat the game,
Change the rules in the middle of the day.

Don't say a peep while I weep,
It gives you more rope to hang yourself with.
Tell me lies and black my eyes,
Whatever you can do to sell the myth.

You push and shove; tried to love,
All to hang on to your daddy's pipe-dream.
But dreams are dead in your head,
With only nightmares left making you scream.

You'll have your say and your way,
I give you an inch and you take a mile.
You scream and shout, throw me out,
Tell me you hate me from behind a smile.

Pick my brain, drive me insane,
But avoid the question when it's aimed at you.
Act all meek, refuse to speak,
Grin like the Devil when he gets his due.

But you know that I will not lie,
Even if I'm drunk on a strong mixed drink.
So don't ask me what I see
‘Less you really want to know what I think!
