Rap Is King Poem by John Ackerman

Rap Is King

Rap Is King

it started to rain on the night that we first decided
we staked a mortal claim toward the things we put away
strapped in the blinds pull back the initial alarm

If children ask the question why?
Why do warriors fight and die?
We answer that we are sure
Sure that patriotism beckons us to war;

Way t ogo loss of Nemo pledge a key whole
latter a bridge over Madison County firm
flood of questions built on my reflection
base to well known king

Rap is the new act king
sitting on my porch light swing
blade of grass covers the lies
does this come at a big surprise

filter through the Midas touch ring
Rap Is King

Tupac & Biggie Smalls
not to mention the classic Lou Rawls,
point it out with the certain circle of friends
