Re-Routed Poem by Anton Smith

Re-Routed

I stand alone in these dark vulgar shadows
but these shadows are not casted by humans
they are casted by these tall walls that that hold me captive
My mind enslaved by these chains of society’s ridicule, The master controlling it like a droid
telling me what’s rite and what’s acceptable
but I am also to blame for my captivity, me not being strong minded enough and having the power to release my soul from these shackles has gotten me where I am.
Although I have tried many of times to release myself from this hold, my failed attempts seem like they outnumber my days on this earth.
The word independences has no meaning in my brain, I am a product of other people…
but this phase of dependency will soon come to past….
hopefully…
