Reason To Live Poem by Alfred Ramos

Reason To Live

As I walk on
Searching for the new dawn
I am a poor soul aimlessly lost
Not paying attention to the cost
What have I stumbled on
Now that the night is gone
I see images of a poor man
Reflections of his life in his hand
As I travel on
I feel more like a pawn
Than a king without his crown
Who is left to knock me down
In constant sorrow I move on
Fighting a battle than can’t be won
This emptiness that just won’t let go
Each breath strangled so I’m dying slow
To what depths have I arrived
To what lengths have I survived
Have I reached the end of the road
Carrying a ton of burdens to unload
Is it worth all this pain
To search for reasons to explain
Or do I just lie down and die
Or pretend that it was all just a lie
