Reborn Poem by Mary Champion

Reborn

I was drifting along in a matter-of-fact kind of way,
I never saw there was any shade other than grey,
and grey is the colour of clouds that are hiding the Sun,
I scanned all the skies for a rainbow and never found one.
Then you came into view
and that moment I knew
that through all of my life I'd been waiting and searching for you.
And suddenly the sun burst into brilliance,
spinning colours like a crazy Cath'rine wheel,
music played and set my feet to dancing,
at last I knew I'd found the way to feel.

I was flying as high and as free as a bird in the sky;
soaring on wings of a love that can't possibly die.
The world down below me, it just wasn't real anymore;
it's you and the love that you offer that I'm living for.
And my heart always knew
it was waiting for you;
it was only my mind got confused about what it should do.
And suddenly my life had found a meaning,
giving purpose to the tears I've had to cry.
Loving you's the reason for my being.
You took my hand and taught me how to fly.
