Recognition Poem by Stephen S. Yeandle

Recognition

Many years had past since last feeling the warm waterfalls
that came from the twin ponds of melancholia.

Now the light had grown dim once again as vapor clouds rose
from the serene and gentle pools of his minds deep recess.

So long forgotten, familiarity was now reminding as it returned
to remand his awareness to an anguished heart.

The old acquaintance walked with him once again down the woodland trail, where along its side traveled a trickling brook that flowed to the river below to begin the journey to the sea.

He recognized the course he would again travel and new it would be
long and difficult.

There had been no time to prepare, no provisions stored and he would have to go it alone, as he had done before.
